The Awesomeness of Socks

I have always had a fondness for socks. It may stem from the fact that my feet seem to always be cold.  It has been something that I have always been drawn to.

I love any fun pair of socks. When I was a teen and toes socks were all the rage, I swear had or a dozen.  People would ask if they were uncomfortable, but I liked them.  Yes, it was a little awkward at first to have that fabric bunched between your toes but the look of them completely surrounded in their own pockets of color, you couldn't help but smile.

Now, my weakness isn't for toe socks but for just weird sock patterns in general.  As an adult, you often are required to wear some time of uniform or follow a dress code. Wearing fun and weird socks is a way to continue to embrace your inner kid but to secretly break dress code rules. I have to admit that I love finding weird ones, much to my husband Lee's mild annoyance.

Adventures In Friendship: Day 1

My best friend Marie came to visit me on my spring break so I decided to document the occasion. :-)

She arrived today and being inspired by my half of the friendship necklace she gave me (my half says "weirdo #1") I held up a small sign that simply said "weirdo #2, which made her laugh. We had a late lunch with my husband and did a bit of gift shopping for some of her family that we'd be seeing the next day. It was really funny to see that we were wearing the exact same socks. It was totally not planned and neither of us knew that the other owned the socks but apparently great minds do think alike. Ha!

Aren't these great?!

Once we got to my house, we delved into a blast from our childhood: dyeing some Easter eggs. Even though I dropped a couple, they still turned out pretty good.  Since my husband isn't too fond of hard boiled eggs, Marie and I will be turning them into deviled eggs for tomorrow's lunch with some of Lee's family.

Our masterpieces

I've been looking forward to this visit for weeks and I know that we'll be having a lot of fun in the days to come.

Childhood Nostalgia

I have always loved to read, even as a small child.  According to my mom, I've been reading since I was four years old.  Being a child that didn't have a lot of friends, reading became my way to learn new things, go different places, and see amazing things, all while sitting comfortably on my couch.

One of my absolutely favorite books from my childhood is Chocolate Fever.  It is about a young boy who loved chocolate so much that he ate it with everything and at every meal.  This caused him to break out into chocolate spots all over his body.  He spends the rest of book going on adventures while he tries to find a cure to his "chocolate fever".

This particular book holds up today since they really make no mention of any technology, which can make a book seem dated to kids.  They also keep it simple and really focused on the interactions between the characters.  Its message is a great one but I won't say what it is since you won't read the book if I give you the answer.

Reading is and always will be one of my favorite past times because of all the adventures that can be found between the pages of a book.
